BOARDTALE
A downloadable game (windows only)
WELCOME TO BOARDTALE
A strange light fills the room... Twilight is shining through the office... It seems your journey is finally over... You are filled with EDUCATION.
In this AU, the infamous political machine TAMMANY HALL has seemingly resurfaced once again as the COLLEGE BOARD after centuries of dormancy. At the same time, you have received your AP test scores and they fall short of your expectations.
Your goal is to bring justice to the American education system as well as change the course of your academic career by challenging and defeating the COLLEGE BOARD once and for all.
IMPORTANT
THE DIALOGUE FOR THIS GAME CHANGES BASED ON YOUR DEATHS. For those who skipped the dialogue and don't know what the controls are, you can find them by pressing RECALL
This game was NOT made with any undertale engine, rather it was made from scracth in gamemaker.
Warning! This game contains flashing lights, static, and other such patterns, which could be potentially harmful to those who experience visual epilepsy! Play at your own risk!
This game does NOT USE THE TRADITIONAL UNDERTALE CONTROLS. Instead of using arrow keys and enter to navigate through options use mouse and M1. Press M1 or any key to advance dialogue. Other controls are explained through the story. Alternatively if you are too lazy to read the dialogue you can find them by pressing RECALL.
It's also important to note that the framerate for software used to record the demo video on the right is SLOWER than the actual game.
Constructive feedback and criticism is WELCOME and ENCOURAGED. This is my first game and I want to improve as a game developer.
Finally, THE GAME IS FREE. If you don't wish to donate there should be a button somewhere to skip the process. Donations are greatly appreciated however, and will go towards my college funds. Downloads are located at the bottom of the page.
NOTE FROM THE CREATOR
For those who read this far, thanks for checking out my game! I am new to game dev, and this is my very first project, which I made for a school video game design class. We had to produce a game for our semester final, and this was my response. Funnily enough, idea to fight College Board originally started out as a shit post which evolved into this game.
I created everything in the game aside from a few art assets, the music, and the sounds, which are all referenced in the credits. This was all done in Gamemaker using what I learned from APCSA. While there is a Undertale fangame engine available, this was all made from scratch.
Unfortunately, the game may be lacking in some areas as after the third month I was experiencing quite a lot of burnout between the project, 4 APs, the SAT, and Ranked Marvel Rivals. Also the aspect ratio for different devices as well as the resolution might be messed up and I don't know how to fix it at this stage.
If anyone is interested in composing music for the game, I might add it as using music from other games doesn't sit right with me. You can reach out to me in the comments where I might respond.
This is a one time thing so don't expect any Undertale fangames from me in the future. I might return to release another game in unity for my end of year final, either making a Ultrakill or Dark Souls clone, we'll see.

game so good, made me want to take an AP exam
Very Unique game, if it gains some popularity it will explode with players. If it gets some traction you shut put it on steam.
Unfortunately I don't think I will upload to steam as all of the music and sounds don't belong to me. Aside from that it costs 100$ to upload a game to steam and I don't think I will be making any money from this lol.
Thanks for the review!
100 reviews and I send this to College Board
